{"id":1626,"date":"2015-07-02T05:15:15","date_gmt":"2015-07-02T12:15:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.onvural.net\/melih\/thoughts\/?p=1626"},"modified":"2015-07-02T05:15:15","modified_gmt":"2015-07-02T12:15:15","slug":"mid-year-review","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onvural.net\/melih\/thoughts\/2015\/07\/02\/mid-year-review\/","title":{"rendered":"Mid-year review"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I posted my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.onvural.net\/melih\/thoughts\/2015\/01\/a-year-in-preview\/\">resolutions<\/a> for 2015 in January, and since we&#8217;re at the halfway point I thought I&#8217;d give an update.<\/p>\n<h2>Lose 30 pounds<\/h2>\n<p>Well pictures don&#8217;t lie:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/www.onvural.net\/melih\/thoughts\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IMG_0178.png\"><img src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/www.onvural.net\/melih\/thoughts\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IMG_0178.png?w=765\" alt=\"\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m very solidly in the 180s now thanks to Ramadan. If I get back into the habit of exetcising after work everyday, and commit to just salad at lunch, I&#8217;m going to nail this. <\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s a big if though&#8230;<\/p>\n<h2>Read 12 books<\/h2>\n<p>So far, so good. I&#8217;ve added a Goodreads widget on the blog if you want to see what I&#8217;m reading, and I&#8217;ve come up with some blog post ideas as well, and I&#8217;ll get to writing them soon \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<h2>Food-related resolutions<\/h2>\n<blockquote><p>\n<strike>Sugar\/honey in my tea only once per day (this resolution is suspended when in the South, and drinking sweet tea)<\/strike><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Totally failing at this, and I won&#8217;t worry about it for this year.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Increase my list of things I can cook beyond kofte, rice, and salad<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> I&#8217;m down with a scrambled egg like never before. We&#8217;ve also nailed a chicken cooking technique that I love. This one is a nice check. <\/p>\n<h2>Business-related resolutions<\/h2>\n<p>I&#8217;m pretty close to happy with this one so far. I need to write more, and that will definitely help me accelerate.<\/p>\n<p>In general though, this is much less a part of me than in the past. I don&#8217;t know yet how I feel about that, but that&#8217;s definitely the case.<\/p>\n<h2>Personal-related resolutions<\/h2>\n<p>This one I get a zero on. I need to do this better. <\/p>\n<p>With six months to go there is lots to accomplish still.
